FAQ

Questions, answered.

Which encryption is used?

AES-256, the strongest algorithm supported by the PDF 2.0 specification. Every modern PDF reader (Acrobat, Preview, Foxit, Chrome, Edge) supports it.

Can I recover the password later?

No — encryption is one-way. Store the password in a secure password manager before you close this tab.

Does the file ever leave my device?

Never. All encryption runs in your browser using WebCrypto and pdf-lib.
